AMERICAN WARS AND BATTLE SITES AT HOME, their Preservation, Protection and Promotion in Education and Tourism.

.
It is worth noting and pointing out regards the U.S.A. I am very impressed with their US National Park Services > National Park Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The National Park Service (NPS) is the United States federal agency that .... the spirit and/or the letter of the preservation laws they are protected by. ...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Park_Service - 170k - Cached - Similar pages also check out US Forrestry Services > United States Forest Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The USDA Forest Service is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture that administers the nation's 155 national forests and 20 national ...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Forest_Service - 45k - Cached - Similar pages What their Parks Services do in respect to military history and Battlesites, compared with National Parks Service in Wales is well worth our attention and wish that our National Parks Service would follow in the American footsteps.

I will also draw your attention here to fact that what ever you might think of America politically, in other areas not least History preservation and promotion they are excellent in their ''Cultural Correctness'' concerning Native American History. America being such an huge country with an huge history, at both National, States, Local plus Native American level as an huge number of useful websites worth visiting. Far too many for me to list here, so do google search yourselves by typing in such as: American Military History, American Battlefields, USA Revolutionary and Civil War, Indian Wars and Native American web sites.
.
I will however, post here two sites of pertinant relevance, they are: . Battle of Fallen Timbers - The Toledo Metroparks The Battle of Fallen Timbers, August 20, 1794, has been called the “last battle of the American Revolution” and one of the three most important battles in ...www.fallentimbersbattlefield.com/ - 9k - Cached - Similar pages. In this connection I suggest you view this battle as being some what similar to the so called 'Battle of Irfon Bridge 1282' * (more a massacre, according to historian Anthony Edwards). However, there the simalarity ends as that does not receive the same attention in it's history, neither in preservation or promotion, does it? No! it does not.
.
Following, is perhap an American battle we in Wales eould be familier with, and do compare with British Invasion of Zulu Land, yes Rourkes Drift and all that. The Battle I am referring to is often referred to as ''Custers Last Stand'', here, I draw your attention not simply to the fact that it has really been given much attention in preservation and promotion but in recent years the name has been changed following pressure from Native Americans, and at long last a monument is being established reflecting Native American history. You will also see that interpretation of the battle does not ignore the Native American side of the story, see via link >Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument (U.S. National Park ... 7th Cavalry Monument. One other Battle involving native Americans, I think you should google up, and that is the Battle of Sand Creek or rather the Massacre of Sand Creek 29 November 1864. There have been some interesting developments here, as an apology for the massacre and a new memorial, there is some very interesting information on Wikipedia worth following up on too.
.
I must emphasise this matter of how history is represented, be it from the position of the Native or those who Conquered and Colonised, I am not going to ignore fact either that Nationalists use history to re-establish Nations or worse? Of course as much as Socialist will use history to advance ''Class Struggle'' . Sure, the whole matter is fraught with debate and argument but in most countries not ignored in 'certain areas' as much as 'certain bodies' ignore it in Wales. Thus, do note how America deals with it's history, in preservation and most importantly promotion of.
.
I suggest that you perhaps view the web sites listed below first, and then the websites above though I guess you might repeat the viewing experience over and over to get at some truth. When you come to review the above bodies promotion of Welsh history note how much attention the Anglo - Norman Conquerors get compared to the native Welsh resistance to conquest and colonisation. This is of course why Cofiwn had come into existence and taking all into consideration it is crossing my mind that maybe Cofiwn should be re-established, but no I am getting of the age where I would rather be a passive archivist of Hanes Cofiwn, see http://cofiwn.blogspot.com/
